Impaired Driver
2024-6765: On Wednesday, November 6th, an off-duty officer observed multiple individuals smoking suspected illicit substances inside a parked vehicle. Concerned about the potential risk of impaired driving, the officer promptly reported the incident to the station. On-duty officers were immediately dispatched to the area; however, the vehicle had departed the location prior to their arrival.
Shortly thereafter, officers located and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle a few blocks from the initial report. During the stop, the driver was removed from the vehicle, and a substantial quantity of fentanyl was found in her possession. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the hospital for a blood screening test. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered paraphernalia indicative of drug trafficking activity. The vehicle has been temporarily impounded, and the driver was released from the hospital under specific conditions.
Egg Bandits
2024-6805: On Friday November 8th, police were called to Fairview for a report of somebody yelling. The complainant provided a vehicle description that he believed was involved and officers were soon able to locate it. The driver of the vehicle explained that he had yelled because a group of

teenagers egged his car before running off. Later in the evening, a second person came forward reporting that his car had also been egged.
Police are working to identify the group, where caught on camera buying eggs immediately before the incident.
Youth Police Academy
This Saturday, the first ever session of the Youth Police Academy was held at the Nelson Police Department. Students were shown around the detachment and learned how to communicate over the radio and how to take fingerprints. The academy will continue over the next three weekends.
