Nelson Police Board Director Amed Naqvi
Provincial Appointment

Amed Naqvi is a retired Partner with Berg Naqvi Lehmann, Chartered Accountants in Nelson. Active in the community, he is a Director of Kootenay Savings Credit Union. In the past, Mr. Naqvi served as Vice Chair with the Community First Health Cooperative, President of the Nelson Golf and Recreation Society, and President of Kootenay Lake General Hospital, to name a few. Professionally, he served as President and Council member for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC. In 2004, he received the Fellow of Chartered Accountants. Mr. Naqvi holds his Bachelor of Commerce and is a designated FCPA/ FCA. Mr. Naqvi serves on the Board of Directors of the Columbia Basin Trust as Finance & Audit Committee Chair.
Nelson Police Board Director Elizabeth Edwards

Liz Edwards has been living in Nelson for the last fourteen years, having moved from the lower mainland. She is currently employed as a clinical pharmacist at Kootenay Lake Hospital and a fitness instructor at the Nelson and District Community Complex.
Liz completed her pharmacy degree at UBC followed by her hospital pharmacy residency at St. Paul’s Hospital where she started her pharmacy career before moving to Nelson.
Being active and involved in the community is important to Liz; she has been the swim director for the Nelson Cy’swog’n’fun Triathlon for the past 10 years as well as having volunteered with the Nelson Nordic Ski Club.

Sue Adam has over 30 years of experience in project management and business consulting in a variety of industries, from non-profit arts organizations to multi-national companies. Currently, she is a Principle at Sue K. Adam Consulting where she is focused on providing local small businesses with guidance and coaching in strategic planning, development or re-engineering of critical processes, workflow analysis, policy review, HR policy and management, and streamlining of contractual and informational documentation. In the past, Ms. Adam was a Project Manager at the Nelson Civic Theatre Society, Senior Business Consultant at British Telecom Canada, Process Lead – Optimization Program at CIBC, Global Project Manager & Sr. Project Manager at Autodesk. Inc, Business Consultant at Synet Service Corporation, Manager at Oacis Healthcare Systems, Operations Manager at WDHB. Inc, and Assistant to Director of R&D Planning at Oacis Healthcare Systems. Her community involvement spans from Whitewater to the Nelson Chamber of Commerce, to project management for the Civic Theatre. Ms. Adam’s board experience includes presiding as Chair of the Board of Kootenay Career Development Society since December 2012 and Treasurer of the Oxygen Art Centre board. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in French, with a minor in Spanish and a Bachelor of Science in Languages (Translation) with High Distinction.

Jane Byers holds a BSc in Kinesiology. Ms. Byers owns and operates an ergonomics and rehabilitation business. She is passionate about supporting the LGBTQ+ community and the city of Nelson and has volunteered for social justice, arts, and youth sport organizations.
Nelson Police Board Director Lena Horswill

Lena Horswill is a retired Executive Director for Nelson Communication Services. Ms. Horswill immigrated to Canada at the age 25 from Malaysia. Shortly after moving to Nelson in 1987 she accepted a position as the Executive Director of Nelson Community Services Centre. Over the next 26 years Ms. Horswill frequently liaised with both the Nelson Police and RCMP especially regarding issues related to violence against women.
